What You’ll Do
As a senior professional in this field, this position will work closely with production, manufacturing engineering, R&D, and quality in support of the supply chain function. The Senior Buyer Planner will set up and maintain the MRP and Item Master database according to forecasts provided by Finance and Marketing. This role will perform core purchasing activities and complex problem resolution independently to drive forward functional area deliverables.
- Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by forecast and the production schedule.
- Purchase supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items for individual departments via purchase requisition processes.
- Resolve supplier issues with Finance and Quality.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, capacity issues, risk mitigation, and new product introductions, recommend and implement approved actions that resolve or improve situations identified.
- Create and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast/demand variation/material lead times.
- Plan and coordinate BOM changes, obsolescence, and new components with Production and Quality.
- Setup & maintain material master system planning parameters such as, but not limited to MOQ, lead time, safety stocks, re-order points, and make vs. buy decisions.
- Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options.
- Work with suppliers and ensure they meet requirements to remain on the ASL.
- Obtain and analyze quotations, negotiate costs and terms with suppliers, and recommend suppliers to establish a relationship with based on cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.
- Create build schedules and prototype bills of material for new product introduction (NPI).
- Drive supply chain change controls, SCARs, when necessary.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business or 10related discipline and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong and engaging negotiation skills with ability to understand business goals, anticipate needs based on changing work demand, and respond to concerns and resolve materials conflicts.
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and applicable Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
- Excellent knowledge of MRP, ERP, item master parameters, bill of materials, product structure, routings, and master scheduling.
- Demonstrated experience with automated purchasing systems, preferably QAD.
- Excellent project management and communications skills (both written and verbal) with strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional critical thinking – able to intuitively identify problems, logically and empirically associate cause and effect, and under a variety of perspectives and constraints, prioritise and provide creative, effective, and practical solutions.
- Experience with detailed data entry to accurately record inventories and materials information and transact material lots through processes and inventory locations.

Salary Range: $103,000 – 111,000 /annually
